About Zevert:

If suffering from symptoms related to Meniere’s disease, tinnitus or vertigo, your doctor may prescribe you Zevert (Betahistine) for treatment. This medicine is anti-vertigo and is categorized as histamine analog which simply means that the medicine’s features bear a resemblance to the naturally occurring chemical known as histamine. The accumulation of endolymph in the ear leads to the development of pressure in the inner ear. This causes an imbalance which along with vertigo, tinnitus, hearing difficulties and nausea are considered the symptoms of Meniere’s disease. This disease which affects the inner ear is considered a debilitating vestibular disorder and can be treated using Zevert.

The medicine is known for its strong antagonist actions against H3 receptors as compared to H1 histamine receptors. When absorbed into the body, the medicine causes an effect in the functioning of histamine receptors found in the blood inner vessels, and this causes these blood vessels to dilate. This action causes alleviation of symptoms of Meniere’s disease through the reduction of pressure caused by the excess fluid in the ear. It is also stated that the medicine’s action may be through affecting some neuronal systems and the nervous central system in general. The medicine may be used for other conditions that may not have been listed here.
