Trazonil (Trazodone) is used in the treatment of depressive illness. It is classified as a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI) belonging to the tetracyclic antidepressant group of medicines. According to several expert physicians, this drug works by causing an increase in the levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain, thereby stabilizing the patient`s mood and reducing depression. A large amount of medical research has been carried out on this medicine, which focuses on its effects if used for fibromyalgia, schizophrenia, diabetic neuropathy, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia and many other conditions.
Trazonil Dosage
Trazonil (Trazodone) is available in 50mg strength uncoated tablets for oral administration. Consult your physician before starting treatment to ensure the right dosage is taken. Adults taking treatment for depression may be directed by a physician to begin with 150mg per day (taken as separate doses). Following this, the maintenance dosage can be determined and the physician may decide to increase the dosage at 3 to 4-day intervals until a suitable dosage is found. The daily dosage will rarely exceed 400mg and in most cases is less.
