About Terapress:
Terapress (Terazosin) is a drug that can be prescribed to treat a variety of conditions. It can be used in the treatment of enlarged prostate (being prostatic hyperplasia), a condition which causes problems during urination due to the increased size of the prostate. This drug relieves such symptoms by relaxing the prostate. When used to treat high blood pressure, this medicine works by blocking some receptors known as alpha receptors found in the blood vessels thereby making the vessels wider and allow free flow of blood. In other instances, this medicine is used to treat kidney stones in patients.
Terapress (Terazosin) come in tablets that are administered orally with water with or without food. It is important to adhere to the instructions given to you by the doctor or the physician. Moreover, do not alter with the structure of the tablets by either crushing or dissolving in water. Always ask your doctor for clarification and avoid self-medication.
Patients using Terapress (Terazosin) to treat enlarged prostate are sometimes instructed by their doctors to take 2mg per day before going to bed. The dose may be increased gradually with the maintenance dose varying from one patient to another. In most instances, the maintenance dose is between 2mg to 5mg per day, but may get to 10mg depending on the response to the medication. The required dosage when treating high blood pressure is slightly different. While it will start with a prescription of 2mg per day, the maintenance dose will range from 2mg to 5mg per day, with the exact amount being dictated by the prescribing doctor.
Patients using Terapress (Terazosin) may experience various side effects with the common ones including sexual dysfunction, nasal congestion, noticeable pain in the back, a mild dizzy sensation, and a painful tingling sensation that affect the feet or hands. If you experience the more serious side effects such as a rapid heartbeat, breathlessness, and a sore erection lasting for more than 4 hours, seek immediate medical attention.
Before you start using this medicine to treat any symptom, it is prudent to inform your doctor if you have any history of low blood pressure or any medical conditions affecting the liver or the prostate. You are advised to avoid driving or using machines as well as engaging in other risky activities for at least 12 hours after the first time of taking this medicine, or after the dose has been increased. This is because dizziness may be experienced.
If you suffer from allergic reactions, seek immediate medical attention. Watch for indicators of such reactions such as skin rashes, swelling of the limbs or face, having trouble swallowing or breathing, and hives. Ensure that you use Terapress (Terazosin) as instructed by the doctor. Never change the dose or self-medicate without consulting your doctor first. The prescription will depend on the condition of your health, the severity of the condition being treated and your medical history.
Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, under another medication, have any allergy or medical condition, or whether you are using supplements, herbal products or vitamins before you start using Terapress (Terazosin).
