This medicine is categorized as an active corticosteroid and is particularly important when used with conditions requiring short-term therapy.

How to use Tenovate


Tenovate Cream (Clobetasol Propionate) is to be applied on the skin strictly only on the parts to be treated. Do not use this medicine for swollen, dry or sore parts unless your physician has checked the part and given you the go ahead. Apply the medicine to the affected area once or in some cases twice; depending on the dosage prescribed by your physician. In most cases, your physician will be monitoring you, and as soon as any improvements are noticed, you may be required to stop using the medicine even if the dose is not over. Your therapy can be long-term if the conditions do not improve within the first month of using this medicine. Unless advised by your physician to use this medicine long term for results, do not continue on its use after your dose is over.

Tenovate Dosage


Use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. For adults suffering from skin conditions, a daily dosage not exceeding 7 grams will be prescribed to last for a period not more than two weeks. Therefore, the limited amount of this medicine that you should use for a therapy lasting for two weeks should not exceed 100g. Your physician will discontinue therapy as soon as control over your condition is achieved. If not, your physician may re-diagnose your condition then propose an alternative such as increasing your dosage or prescribing other medicine to use as a combination with this.

Tenovate Side Effects


The risk of serious side effects when using Tenovate Cream (Clobetasol Propionate) is low. However, call your physician as soon as you notice the occurrence of any side effect and these may include; abnormal changes in mood, increase in weighing, general feeling of tiredness and weak muscles, insomnia and blurred vision. Other common side effects that should not cause alarm include; drying or cracking of skin, change in color of the treated area, development of stretch marks, blisters, itchiness or redness of the skin, spider veins or softening of your skin.

Tenovate Precautions


Before using this medicine, notify your doctor if you are allergic to any of its active ingredients. If you have known allergies to corticosteroids such as prednisone or hydrocortisone, your physician will give you more details. Also, let your physician know about your medical history especially of conditions caused by poor circulation of blood in your body, symptoms related to your immune or history suffering from skin conditions such as perioral dermatitis or rosacea. If the area to be treated is broken, sore or dry, do not use this medication. It is also not advised to use the medication over large areas of your skin or for a very long time as this makes your body hard to handle the physical stress. If you are pregnant, are planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding, first discuss with your physician about the use of this medicine. Do not use this medicine for children unless your physician has approved. If prescribed for a child, the dosage should not last for more than five days unless specified by your physician.
