About Sorafenat: Sorafenat (Sorafenib Tosylate) is indicated for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma and for thyroid cancer that has not responded to radioactive iodine. Sorafenib Tosylate is a kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking certain abnormal proteins that trigger cancer cell reproduction.

How to use Sorafenat


Sorafenat (Sorafenib Tosylate) is indicated for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (a type of liver cancer) that cannot be surgically removed, advance renal cell carcinoma (a type of kidney cancer) and for thyroid cancer that has not responded to radioactive iodine. Sorafenib Tosylate is a kinase inhibitor. It works by blocking certain abnormal proteins that trigger cancer cell reproduction.

Sorafenat Dosage


Sorafenat (Sorafenib Tosylate) comes as a 200mg tablet. Usually it will need to be taken twice daily, but your doctor will provide dosage instructions. Sorafenib should be taken on an empty stomach (one hour before, or two hours after eating). The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

Continue to take Sorafenib as long as advised by your doctor. Do not reduce the dose or stop taking the tablets if you begin to feel better. Your doctor may adjust your dosage, but you must not adjust it by yourself.

Sorafenat Side Effects


Sorafenat (Sorafenib Tosylate) may result in some unwanted side effects. Some are mild and some are more serious.

These side effects are common. Tell your doctor if they become troublesome or do not reduce with time:

  • tiredness
  • weakness
  • skin redness
  • hair loss
  • itching
  • dry or peeling skin
  • loss of appetite
  • constipation
  • diarrhea
  • dry mouth
  • weight loss
  • joint pain
  • numbness, pain or tingling in hands or feet
  • headache

Some more serious side effects may require medical attention. Tell you doctor if you notice any of the following:

  • unusual bruising or bleeding
  • black and/or tarry stools
  • red blood in stools
  • bloody vomit
  • vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds
  • fever
  • severe stomach pain
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • chest pain
  • shortness of breath
  • dizziness or fainting
  • sweating a lot
  • fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
  • sudden severe headache
  • confusion
  • changes in vision
  • seizures
  • rash
  • redness, pain, swelling or blisters on the palms of the hands or soles of the feet
  • mouth sores
  • dark urine
  • yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • pain in the upper right part of the stomach

Sorafenat Precautions


Let your doctor know af any allergies you have, and any prescription or over-the-counter medicinces you are currently taking.

Tell your doctor if you have suffered from high blood pressure, bleeding problems, chest pain, heart problems, kidney problems other than kidney cancer, or liver disease.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed. Sorefenib can decrease fertility.
