About Pantosec:

Pantosec(Pantoprazole) is a medication highly effective in treating duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux diseases (GERD) as well as stomach ulcers. The medicine is able to do so since its active ingredient pantoprazole, which is classified as a proton pump inhibitor is used to prevent the production of the excess amount of acid from the stomach. This medication can also be used in the treatment of peptic ulcers in the stomach.

How to use Pantosec

Patients are advised only to start using this medication after it has been prescribed by a physician. For most adult cases with GERD or normal stomach ulcers, they are prescribed to take the medicine orally for 1 or 2 times a day depending on the severity of the symptoms. Patients are allowed to take the tablet with or without food but mostly encouraged that in whichever way they take the medication, it should be accompanied by a glass of water. While taking the medication, it should be taken whole and not chewed or split or even crushed before consuming.

Pantosec Dosage

Patients should only use a dosage prescribed by a physician or pharmacist. The physician will then examine the severity of their symptoms, medical conditions and go through their medical history to determine the best dosage. Each prescription is unique to a patient, and persons with similar symptoms are discouraged from using the same prescription. For a typical case, Pantosec(Pantoprazole) is taken once a day, and this should be some few minutes, up to 30minutes before a meal. The dosage may extend to weeks most commonly eight weeks, but this mostly depends on the condition being treated and a patient’s responsiveness to medication. If the condition does not show any signs of improvement or heals, patients should stick to their original prescriptions unless when advised otherwise by a physician.

Pantosec Side Effects

In rare cases will patients using this medication experience side effects. However, there are a few mild side effects that would not be uncommon to experience with patients using pantos, etc. These include nervousness, slight muscle pains, leg cramps, and weakness in the body, irregular heartbeats or the feeling of a light head.

In rare cases, patients may experience diarrhea, skin rashes, constipation, vomiting or even headaches. These side effects should, however, fade with time and incase they persist or even become worse; patients are advised to seek immediate medical attention.

Pantosec Precautions

Before you start on your medication, ensure that your physician knows the following details about you:

  • Whether you are pregnant, are expecting to get pregnant soon or are breastfeeding.
  • If you have any known allergic reactions to any active ingredients of pantosec or any other medication
  • If you have had history on mental disorders or any other illnesses or medical conditions that may affect your responsiveness to the treatment or react with the medicine.
