It is categorized as a leukotriene receptor antagonist, and its main mode of action is through blocking leukotrienes which help in improving symptoms.
How to use Montair
You should take Montair (Montelukast Sodium) tablets orally only. This can be with or without food but in both cases, you should take it with water. The tablets in most cases should be taken once in a day, and unless advised otherwise by your physician, it is best when you take the dose in the evening. This medicine should not be your fast relief for acute asthma attacks, and you should have other medication for that purpose.
Montair Dosage
Montair (Montelukast Sodium) should be taken strictly as the doctor instructs without altering the dosage unless if instructed by the doctor. If your symptoms improve before the dosage is over or if they do not improve by the time you are through with your dose, do not lower or increase your daily dose unless it has been instructed by your physician. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine even if you do not suffer from asthmatic symptoms and also then you should continue taking the medicine. For a patient suffering from moderate asthma symptoms, the typical prescription for most of such cases is a daily intake of 10mg once, for as long as the doctor recommends. The prescription for different conditions may be higher or lower than this as it is dependent on the patient and condition equally.
Montair Side Effects
Although not for all patients, it is possible for patients to report the occurrence of side effects when using this drug. The most commonly reported side effects include tiredness. Stomach cramps, symptoms of upper respiratory infections, headaches, dizziness, rashes, stuffy nose, coughs, common cold or flu symptoms, stomach or intestinal upsets. These should not cause alarm unless they are persistent or get worse with continues use of the medicine. Whereas it’s extremely rare, it is also possible for patients to develop severe side effects. Contact your physician as soon as you notice any signs of any of these severe side effects; diarrhea, hallucinations, increased the tendency to bleed, bruising, experiencing vivid or bad dreams and itchiness. Patients may also experience symptoms of pancreas inflammation, indigestion, pain in the joint and muscles, muscle cramps and palpitations, seizures, insomnia, vomiting, swelling due to fluid retention, nausea and other bad reactions which may not have been listed here.
Montair Precautions
If you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine, inform your doctor before starting to use it. Stop using Montair (Montelukast Sodium) and consult your physician as soon as you notice any signs of allergic reactions which include; development of hives and rashes, chest tightness, swelling of the tongue, face, lips or even throat and experienced difficulties in breathing and swallowing.
