About Minirin: Minirin nasal spray is an antidiuretic medication used to treat diabetes insipidus. It contains the active ingredient desmopressin acetate which is an antidiuretic hormone/ vasopressin. Introduction of the diuretic hormone, desmopressin , returns the hormone levels back to normal. By doing so, it eliminates frequent urination, constant thirst and prevents the body from getting dehybrated. Minirin spray can also be applied to children to prevent bedwetting although using it regularly can drastically reduce the sodium levels to dangerous lows.

How to use Minirin

The package that this medicine comes in has an instruction manual that explains how you should prepare the bottle for first time use or if it hasn’t been used in a while. This medicine is administered by spraying into the nose. If the dose prescribed is more than one spray, spray half the dose in each nostril. For example, a two spray dose should be administered to both nostrils. Observe the number of sprays per container and discard it when the dosage is complete. If it is for a child, supervise them and help them to use it properly. Limit the amount of fluids and water you take while using this medicine.

Minirin Dosage

The dosage will depend on your condition and it is important to get a doctor’s prescription before you start using this medicine. Normal dosage is usually 1 to 3 times per day or as instructed by the doctor. Make sure you administer only one spray per nostril. Regular use until the dosage is over will help you to get the maximum benefit from this drug. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. Take the medicine at the same times each day so that you don’t miss a dose.
